A Sikh's objections, answered
Step 1 of 7
What does the Guru Granth Sahib say about Muslims?
Sikh: the Guru Granth Sahib puts the heart above outward form
Sikhs read the Guru Granth Sahib as teaching that God is met in a sincere heart and a good life. They do not look for Him in a mosque, a month or a journey. Guru Nanak, Guru Arjan and the Bhagat Kabir are cited for this.
The case for it
Guru Nanak says a true Muslim is the one who is kind to all. He turns the mosque, the prayer-carpet and the five prayers into virtues.
Where it falls short
That is what the lines say. The Qur'an asks for the same inner standard and puts it beside prayer and charity in one verse. It does not trade the forms for the virtues.
