A Hindu's objections, answered
Step 1 of 7
Aren't all religions paths to the same God?
Many paths, one goal (Vivekananda)
Truth is one, and the sages call it by many names. God answers every worshipper in the way he approaches Him. So every sincere path, whatever form of God it worships, reaches the one Supreme in the end, as streams reach the sea. Hindus therefore accept all religions as true.
The case for it
The Rig Veda says the sages give many names to what is One.
Where it falls short
The verse gives its own list of names: Indra, Mitra, Varuna, Agni, Garutman, Yama and Matarisvan. These are gods of the Vedic hymns, each with its own offerings. The verse says nothing about the world's religions. The Qur'an gives the most beautiful names to God (﷾). It rejects gods that are only names (53:23). And it asks that He alone be worshipped.
